Oregano is mainly composed of Carvacrol and Thymol, chemicals with purification and antioxidant functions. Oregano has a high phenolic content, so drops of oregano oil should be used in moderation. When applied to the skin, it should be diluted with base oil to smear.

Skin Effect

  • It can help treat foot or nail fungus, by putting a few teaspoons of oregano oil in a basin of water and soak your feet in it. You can dilute the oil (by mixing a drop with a teaspoon of olive or coconut oil), and by applying it on your nails and skin
  • It can be used to relieve bug bites, and different types of rashes
  • It heals cold sores, dandruff, and a lot of other skin conditions

Physiological Effect

  • It can help in killing parasites and easing infections by diluting the oil and placing it under your tongue, holding it there for a few minutes, and then rinsing it out. This should be repeated at least four times a day
  • It can help in alleviating colds and other sinus infections by putting a few drops of oregano oil in a steaming water pot, and inhaling the steam
  • It can be used to ease sore throat by just adding a few drops of the oregano oil to a glass of water
  • It can be used to help alleviate toothache

Other Effects

  • The oregano oil is also an antiseptic, which means it can be used to clean your home. This can be done by mixing four drops of oregano oil with lemon oil, white vinegar, and water. This mixture can be used to wipe and clean surfaces and anything inside the home
  • The oregano oil can be used to ward off insects by putting a few drops on outdoor furniture. You can also apply a diluted mixture directly to your skin while heading outdoors
