Benefits and Uses of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

In the world of essential oils, there are many different terms that you will hear. One of these terms is therapeutic grade. What does it mean for an essential oil to be therapeutic grade? Does it change anything about the oil? If you continue to read, you will learn a lot more about what the meaning of therapeutic grade is and how you can use these essential oils to benefit you.

Various Terms You Will See

Essential oils have become increasingly popular and it seems that every company has a new one to sell to you. With this popularity comes a lot of new terms that you may not be aware of. Therapeutic grade, ingestion, and topical are just a few that you may have seen when searching for the right essential oils for you. Therapeutic grade stands out the most because it is used so heavily. You have probably seen the term pure grade as well. These two terms may seem very similar to you, but they are very different.

Therapeutic grade essential oils can fit into a couple of different categories. One of those is environmental and the other is physical. The environmental factors that go into deciding if an oil is therapeutic is where it is comes from, the type of soil that was used, and the altitude at which it is grown. The physical category includes when and how the plant is harvested, how it is distilled, and how the company chooses to bottle the oil once it is ready. These may seem incredibly confusing, but we are here to explain this even further.

Store Bought Oils Versus Online Oils

Each day it seems that there is a new online brand of essential oil or you can find them in any local stores. What is the difference between online buying and buying them in the stores? Generally store bought essential oils, unless they are in a natural food or herb store, have been cut with a carrier oil to make it cheaper for consumers and faster to produce. This is is why it is very important to read labels and find out more about the brand you are buying. You want to find a 100% pure essential oil, plain and simple. Reading the reviews of specific brands is incredibly important too.

There are some questions that you can ask of the oil producer in order to receive the best quality oils. Some of these questions include the following:

  • If the oil you want comes from an edible plant, did the company add a disclaimer not to ingest it on the bottle?
  • How long is the shelf life on the oil? If it is over a year, it is not a pure oil.
  • Does the company grow the herbs in order to distill them and make essential oils?
  • Do the aromas of the oils vary even though they are the same scent?

As you can see, there are quite a few reasons to check your essential oils. Make sure that you find a company that you trust with your oils such as Carmaya!
